Birthday.

It's really nice of the color festival to be on my birthday ever year. I get to have thousands of people celebrating with me. This is how it went down. Mainly you'll have to interpret the day through photo's, due to my lack of wanting to go into detail explaining the experience.

This is part of our group right when we got there. Still relatively clean, and able to breath correctly.

In the typical fashion of my friends, they threw chalk in my eyes, then had a random boy give me a birthday kiss when I couldn't see. Real creepy. This is my one and only glimpse of the boy.

These little photo montages are thanks to Brynne and her blog. Thanks Brynne. They are our evolution of color. I liked them and didn't want to go through the effort of recreating something similar. Apparently, I enjoy making pretty faces in mine.

Here are a few attempts at a group photo. These are the more enjoyable attempts. The others are mostly chalk in the air with few glimpses of people.

I'd have to say that despite the cheesiness of the event, I find it quite enjoyable every time. It's in celebration of the Hindu Holi festival. It was even more enjoyable since I barely celebrated the same festival in a Nepalese village. This time around involved a lot more chalk, and a lot less water. I don't know which is more preferable.

At one point during the festival everyone honored me and my birthday by all throwing colors at me at once. Meaning every single person surrounding me dumped bag fulls on my head and in my face. Thank Jacki for this photo right at the beginning of the disaster.

I was also able to check something off of my Bucket List. I am proud to say that I crowd surfed for the first time at the festival. I've always been scared to crowd surf due to the presence of dirty adolescent boys. Nate Beck and Brynn both decided to give it a go so I figured this was a perfect time for me to as well. It was definitely worth it, I'm going to be a crowd surfing machine from now on.

This is just a small glimpse of the lovely Krishna temple and the large crowd that had assembled.

The rest of my birthday remains photo-less. Yet that doesn't mean it wasn't a blast. Many of my closest friends and Josh's closest strangers came over to my parents home for some pizza and ice cream. I am now 23 years old. I think that it is a very distinguishable age, and I am sure to receive a lot of respect with this coming of age. I plan on this being one of the better years of my life. So far, it's gone rather well.

  2. What a fun birthday celebration! I was there to celebrate it too, but there were so many people crowding you that I didn't get to actually wish you a happy birthday. My apologies. But Happy (belated) Birthday! You're so much fun - I love that you crowd surfed! I'm gonna have to try that one of these days.
