Moab

Yes it's now winter. Here are some things I did in the fall.

I went to Moab with Josh, Ty, and some peeps from their work. We were there a little over a day, but it was well worth it. It had been way to long since I'd been to Moab.

Our first canyon we did was in Arches. You repel off of people. Sketchy.

The last person slides down the cliff on their hands and feet. Meaning Chad took one for the team. You can tell how steep it is in the photo above. It was one of the cooler things I've seen someone do. I would have wrecked really hard trying it.

I hadn't put my hair up yet on the first repel. This is what happens when you don't put your hair in a pony tail. You rip a huge chunk out. Brynn ripped out a huge chunk of my hair a few weeks before in Powell. I'm going to be bald soon at the rate I've been tearing out my hair.

The canyon we were in was beautiful.

The last repel in the canyon was huge!! It was one of the bigger hanging repels that I've done, and it had a spectacular view as you can see from the photo above.

The next morning we woke up to do another canyon. This one had one of the more diverse landscapes I've seen in a canyon. Every mile or so the landscape would change and we would be in an entire different area. I can't remember what this canyon was called. I just know its across the river from where we always start our trips down catarac canyon.

This was the coolest part of the hike. After hiking a few hours up slot canyon's you come to this. It's unreal. It is one of the most unique landscapes I've seen and it's in Moab, I thought it was crazy I'd never seen this place in all the times I'd been there.

From here we climbed down little slots to the bottom of this area. Then we went a little ways through more traditional slot canyons that were full of water.

After avoiding most the water in the slots we finally repeled out into a larger more open slot canyon.

After that we came out to this area, it was just a large drop off back into the main canyon. I've gone through a handful of canyon's in Zion but I'd never canyoneered in Moab. Moab has some really great hidden gems like this one where you don't have to worry about getting permits and are still amazing.

We hiked the few miles back to our car and then Josh, Ty, and I headed home for the rest of the weekend. It was a great little getaway, and had really nice temperatures for the time of year.

  2. Amazing...those rappels were ridiculous! I'm such a wimp when it comes to heights....one day I'll be as cool as you.
