Winter Holiday's

I had a great winter this year even with being busy in school

Jarred and Rachelle and their second baby. The cutest boy Clark.

I went to San Francisco with my parents work. They had an event with all their leisure agents so I went and took photos for the event which was super fun.

I spent a lot of time with my family

I spent a lot of time with this guy. We were lucky and able to see each other almost every week.

I went to Seattle with other Utah MBA's and we went around and visited some companies there. It was really fun and we were able to see some awesome companies.

Even with being really busy in school, and practically always out of town I was able to do some really great skiing.

Skiing on Christmas at Sundance with Kevin. It was my first time ever skiing at Sundance.

Lastly, my grandpa got remarried. His new wife's name is Regna. He seems so so so happy now and I'm glad he found someone to share his life with so quickly. He has been super lonely since my grandma died, so It's great seeming him so cheerful again. They are like young newly weds so its super funny to watch them.

Spring Skiing?

This year there really wasn't such a thing as spring skiing. I'm pretty sure that every time I skied I would tell Jarred "its the last powder day of the year, I have to go". I had a lot of last good days of the year! It just never stopped snowing, and was never sunny. I don't usually crave spring skiing, this year I was
actually excited for it.

Here was one spring skiing day we finally had.

I went with all my favorite boys.

It was me, Malcolm, James, Kevin, Sean, and Stain. I love sunny screw around days. It's always  extremely entertaining to be around.

How many groups of people can you go with and watch that many people in a row do huge tricks off a jump? They are pretty talented guys.

Then, Stain and I went skiing on JULY 3. Seriously, JULY. That is so crazy cool.

Well, Stain went skiing, it hurt my foot to bad so, I went to the top of the hill. Made about eight turns. Hiked back up. Road the tram to the bottom. But.. still counts right?

Little Cottonwood

This last week has been my favorite skiing all year. I was able to go a few times, all of which were amazing. I skied some of the deepest, lightest snow I've skied in a long time. Real great.

This last weekend I got the best of everything. An amazing day at Snowbird with Sean and Clint in the best snow this year. A sunny relaxing day at Snowbird with Stain where the snow was still soft. Then toured with Stain and Malcolm and found even more great untouched snow while getting I getting sun.

Here is my day with Malcolm and Stain.

My friends like using the cheesiest ski terms they hear from other people. Stain informed Malcolm he entered the white room with this turn. That was a new one for both of us.

We also had a lovely view of the canyon.

Malcolm took some real candid shots for me.

We discussed that "checking in" is the cool thing to do. Stain couldn't figure how to check us in, which kind of made it like we were never there. To bad.

Stain went to drop off this little cornice, which turned out to be not so little.

We enjoyed the first run so much we decided to go back up. This time we blazed our own trail which didn't work out well for me, but worked out even worse for Malcolm. We had a few falls where getting back upright in the deep snow was difficult.

But... It allowed us to find this nice little spot.

Malcolm and I took a few tumbles skinning up, then he decided to fall a few more times for good measure once he took them off.

Stains photo turned out more interesting than I thought it would based on the not so good circumstances.

Im always torn between doing my favorite photos in black and white or color.
Such a pressing problem.

Who wouldn't enjoying skiing on a beautiful sunny day like this. If you don't ski, I would really recommend going up, the snow is so nice and the sun is just amazing. You won't regret it. If you do ski, I'd recommend going up in the backcountry. Its just really really pretty and calm.

Snow

I went and skinned up by Alta recently.

I love how calm it is. This was a day that the valley was extremely smoggy. Yet 20 min. away it looked like this.

I skinned up and only had time to ski down once. But it was worth it.

Happy Valentines Day everyone.

Joys of Winter

I'd never slept in a snow cave, and I'd never gone snow shoeing. Luckily we did both.

I don't know how I'd never been snow shoeing, it just hadn't made sense when I could ski. But we snow shoed up and slept in a snow cave, and I some how survived the night.

We built a fire and ate some delicious deserts.

Then we went and tried to sleep. Everyone else was successful. I've since learned from Bear Grylls that you loose most of your heat through the floor, and I was freezing all night. Everyone had something other than just tarp under them. I had freezing floor. It was a cold long night. But still totally worth it.

SPIRAL JETTY

For Presidents day (I think that was the holiday that just passed) we took a little trip out to the Spiral Jetty.

More importantly we enjoyed ourselves out on the Great Salt Lake for a few hours. There was White as far as you could see. Most of which was covered with only a few inches of water, so you could walk really far out if you wanted. As great as it was to see the Spiral Jetty, I think I enjoyed playing out on the salt more.

We might have gone a little over board with our picture taking. It was just so great that we couldn't stop. I could have entertained myself for much longer than we already had.

Thanks to Berk we even had a great drive out to the Jetty, feeling like we were Indiana Jones in his Land Rover. Even though most of this adventure seemed to consist of driving, it was still great.

I feel like this is a Backstreet Boys album cover because of how everyone is standing. I'm pretty sure this was not planned. They just naturally stand this way?

We also had to take off our shoes once we got a certain distance out, Although most of us chose to role up our pants, Brynne apparently decided that wasn't an important thing for her to do.

This is what me an Brynne spent most of our time doing, and is probably what inspired every one else to come out and join us in the water.

Even the over exposed photo's people took still ended up looking really great because everything was so white anyways.

We also stopped by the Golden Spike on the way home. That was a once in a life time hopefully. There was this little boy and his dad out there as well, I felt really bad for the little boy. I imagine he only wanted to hang out with his friends, but his dad wanted some bonding time, so his dad drove him on a really long drive to see the golden spike which isn't even there. It looked like a not as great of day for the two of them.

All in all it was quite a great day. I really enjoyed myself, and I'm pretty sure everyone else would call the day a success as well.

Here are a few photos I took while skiing this year. They are going on this post even though I'm not actually sure when they are from.

I do know that my friends rock at skiing.
