Uruguay

Carmelo, Uruguay is the perfect retreat from the bustling city of Buenos Aires. Back in April I was able to tag along with my dad and mom on a work trip. My mother and I went a few days early and hung out in Uruguay. We stayed at Four Seasons Carmelo. It was like an extremely nice adult summer camp, with all sorts of activities at your fingertips.

From Buenos Aires you take an hour ferry ride, followed by a 45 minute taxi to get to Carmelo.

Everything that you pass along the way to Carmelo is flat and baron. You are not expecting a beautiful pine forest when you arrive.

The resort had bikes that you could take at any time. My mother and I took advantage of that and took them out a few times while we were there.

I some how talked my mother into going horseback riding with me. We had so much fun. She was really nervous at first but quickly was able to relax and enjoy it. It was great being able to hang out with her and make her go on my sort of adventures.

The horseback ride was so much fun. We were able to start our ride by heading into a beautiful pine forrest that had almost no foliage on the ground. We came out along a river and that ended in a big open field. It was such a pretty ride. It was great being able to run and do whatever we wanted with the horses. I'm so glad we decided to take advantage of all of that Four Seasons Carmelo had to offer, and really enjoy their range of activities.

The resort also has two pools. We were there in the off season when the outdoor pool was a little cold to swim in.

The indoor pool on the other hand was perfect. The indoor pool is located in the spa area. It is heated and also has a jacuzzi next to it. The room is so relaxing with floor to ceiling windows covering the entire wall, and a perfect view of the pine forest outside.

Our actual room was a villa equipped with a large personal tub as well as an outdoor shower and outdoor living room.

Even though it was the off season in Carmelo I thought it was the perfect time to go. It was secluded, the temperature was perfect, and you were able to really relax and enjoy what the resort has to offer. The was absolutely no reason to leave the resort. I wish we could have stayed at the resort a few days longer and cut our time in Buenos Aires short.
