Summer 2014

Last summer was so great. I am going to do a quick update so that I remember all of the fun I had.

Kevin took his last board exam during medical school, which meant that he spent the first two months of summer studying his butt off! He was able to get a rotation in Utah though (thanks to Traci), so I was able to spend time with friends and family while he studied all day.

I did make him take a few breaks, so that he could spend a little time in the mountains.

One of my many adventures in Utah was horse back riding with Traci and Malorie. Traci's mom has horses, so went out to her house and rode them for the day. I am terrible, but it was super fun!

This is also the only time I have ever worn a cowboy hat.

We had been biking a lot more in Vegas

In Utah we were able to mountain bike a little as well. We went up to the Canyons with a friends a few times, and hit the bike parks. I want to go back so bad!!

In Las Vegas we tried to spend as much time as we could in the outdoors. Now that we moved from there I'm so glad we did it!

One weekend we went camping with our friends at Lake Mead.

I didn't do near as much climbing as I wanted to in Vegas while we were there. We ended up hiking or biking most of the time, but I loved every second of when I did get to climb.

Lastly, I got to go to lake powell with my friends! We are all getting old now so we aren't able to go as much, but I'm glad I made one of the trips thanks to Katie & Stain.

As much as I love skiing and winter, summertime is the best!

Vegas

I've been to Vegas a whole lot the last few months to visit this guy.

Here are some older visits of mine.

He took me on a hot Valentines date to see the Phantom of the Opera

I rarely go to the strip when I am down there and it was really fun going to Phantom with him. It was one of my very favorite show's growing up so it was really great seeing it again, and I loved having us both take the entire night off from school and going out.

Kevin was able to take a break from studying on one of my visits and we went and walked around the dam for a little while. Its pretty magnificent.

Jake was in town too and I had fun hanging out that week with these boys.

Really most of my trips consisted of things more like these...

Running through his neighborhood.

Doing things I never do like paint my toe nails.

Even weirder my fingernails

Reading a book while he is studying or acting like I am studying with him. You'd think I'd be doing real work since I am getting my masters.

But instead I'm making him really delicious fattening treats like this red velvet roll so I don't get bored.

Havasupi

For the rest of my fall break I went to Havasupi with Sean and Ryan.

Such a lovely place,

But an extremely long drive

and quite the hike with a backpack.

We had a real lovely time.

We spent three days there.

The weather was perfect.

I was able to get some exersize in during the middle of school.

See the sun.

And relax in a beautiful place.

I'm pretty sure that we slept 15 hours the first night. Whoops. But well needed.

Then I made up for it by hiking around all the next day.

I had a great time, but don't know if havasupi is made for me.

It's kind of expensive, really far to get to, and has a lot of people compared similar destinations.

Definitly had fun, but I think I'd choose glacier or other less populated parks over havasupi.

But isn't it super magical?

Sean and I decided to sprint out of there, or at least that's what it felt like. We were hiking at a really quick pace for me and my short legs. I was pretty happy to be back to the car, and have a lot of water waiting for me. Hiking out of havasupi in the middle of the day can be intense.

We finished off the week by spending the weekend in Las Vegas with Kevin. We just hung out, relaxed and enjoyed the sun before I heading back to school the next week. It was a great little getaway to break up the monotony of school.
