Summer Getaways

LAKE POWELL

At the beginning of summer I went to Lake Powell with a bunch of my friends. Unfortunately my boat caught fire last winter and sunk. Luckily, thanks to Katie and Stain, I was still able to go to Powell this year. There were a lot of us staying on their house boat. It was super fun. We just went for the weekend and it was really great. Perfect weather. Lake Powell is one of my favorite places to go in the world.

ZION

Weird, but I had never been to Zion. I went over a month ago and hiked part of the Narrows, Keyhole, and Angles Landing. It was great. Traci was getting married in St. George so we participated in her wedding, then we went to Zion the rest of the weekend. Traci's wedding was great as well. She looked super cute, and extremely happy. Steve also looked quite handsome. Zion is really pretty. We went early enough in the year that it wasn't as hot as it is other times. I'm not very good at being really hot. Keyhole was freezing though. It was still really deep at that point and a rather cold day. Wetsuits seem a little smarter. It's short enough that it wasn't to big of a deal. The cold water made it way more entertaining because everyone was screaming the whole time and it was really chaotic.

Brynn and myself in Keyhole. Its a really cool slot canyon. If you haven't done one this is a perfect beginner. Early in the year its freezing but as the water drops, and it heats up outside, its not too bad.

CAMPING

I've gone and camped with all my friends a few times in Provo overlooking the valley. Its a perfect place to camp when you are just going over night. Its super close to their houses so it works out great. As you can see its also super pretty.

CLIMBING

I've taken up a new sport this summer. Obviously rock climbing. I've climbed a little bit through out my life, I've just never had people to go with regularly. Last summer I climbed with Traci and Steve a little more often, but not to much. Some of the kids that I went to Bolivia with wanted to get into it as well, so this summer we have all gone a bunch. Its been so much fun. Josh, Ty, and Treq have been coming a lot as well. So almost at any given time you can find someone to go. I love it. I like improving rapidly at something, were as most things I do I remain pretty stagnant. It's been really great, all of us have improved so much in just over a month or so.

UINTAHS

I've been to Uintah's in the winter snowmobiling a bunch, but never really backpacking. So, I consider this my first backpacking trip there. It was super fun. We just went for a weekend and camped, fished, and hiked a little. Way relaxing, and really really great. We hiked in through the snow, which I wasn't expecting or planning for. My feet were real cold. Then it started storming really bad right when we got there and had just put up our tents. So we all hid in our tents. The rest of the weekend ended up being perfect though. I had a lot of fun.

The next really pretty morning.

It was so beautiful in the early morning. The lake was flat and had mist all over it.

I caught, gutted, and ate my first fish here. Most people accomplish this at 10, I got to be 22 when I first did. Still cool though, and gross.
